What can I say? I have never been on-the-fence kind of person, so it’s typical for me to have a strong opinion leading toward extremes.
But on this one topic, I’m perfectly content to choose the middle ground.

Having a Full-Time Job is Okay But It Stifles Creativity
So, you find nirvana. A 9-to-5 safe haven where you have a content calendar to follow and perfect briefs (or no briefs at all), and life seems complete.
Well, honestly, and I’m speaking from experience here, the appeal wears off rather fast.
Why do authors never seem content writing for the same media all the time?
It’s simple, actually. No challenges.
Writing similar content within the same framework over and over again will take away the joy from writing in the first place.
Writers (no matter their area of expertise) need to be challenged. We need variety in our tasks or we hit a rut. And once in a rut, writer’s block is not far behind.
In all honesty, some projects may offer the needed variety. Working for Websa Ltd, namely as a writer at Silentbet, never offers a dull moment. There are plenty of new topics to cover to get the site’s topical authority right.
Still, there are very clear expectations regarding the writing process. And going outside of that framework is always refreshing.
Which leads me to…
Going Freelance is the Perfect Side Hustle
It’s true. No need to requalify. No need to get too far out of your comfort zone.
It’s the perfect compromise.
You keep your day job and just add another task to your roster.
The positives? Plenty of them.
Firstly, when I freelance, I get to test my expertise on different topics. Writing for a different iGaming site teaches me a new way to approach topics and conduct research.
It is also great to have the opportunity to test something new or to approach something in a whole new way.
Secondly, you get to meet new people through it. Having a gig with a new media means you get to know fellow authors and content managers.
Last but not least, you start building your E-E-A-T persona in a way that is going to bear fruit in the long term.
So, Which One Should You Choose?
My answer – neither.
There’s absolutely no need to make a choice in the first place.
The perfect position for iGaming writers like me is being a full-time writer for one media or company and freelancing for anyone who fits your profile’s needs.
Being part of one solid project will give you stability. The same one I have working for WEBSA LTD. With this job comes a deeper understanding of brand placement and brand voice.
It is also quite rewarding to see the results of your work over time.
Freelancing, on the other hand? Well, that keeps things interesting for you.
It pushes you outside of your usual framework. It gives you a chance not only to meet new people but also to see how other iGaming operations work.
And let’s be honest for a moment. Why would you want to give up either one?
Just keep up with the ever-changing iGaming industry and stay on your toes as a writer.
Keep learning.
Keep experimenting.
Keep finding new ways to stay relevant.
So, this is the sweet spot for me – having one main project (Silentbet) and taking on freelance gigs on the site.
