With the advance of AI technology, the workflow of many iGaming writers has fundamentally changed. And I am no exception. This AI usage policy outlines how I use AI tools in my day-to-day work and where I draw the line.
Tools I Use and Why
Full transparency: I do use AI, but not to generate AI slop devoid of meaning and purpose.
I use ChatGPT and Google AI mode to get into the “head” of search engines and see what pushes their buttons, so to speak. This helps me understand what kind of content the algorithm values, which in turn helps me structure my thoughts and outline my writing plan.
I also rely on Grammarly for proofreading.
Still, this is just one step in the process and part of the on-page SEO work that goes into the content I deliver to my clients.
Above all else, I value human expertise and personal experience. Writer’s accountability is also essential to me from an ethical standpoint.
Where AI helps – and where it does not
I may use AI to
- Do a quick comparison between large bodies of text needed for my research
- Translate legal documentation from a language I do not speak into English
- Check spelling and grammar after I have already double-checked my work
- Gain insights into the SERPs and ranking pages of competitors
- Brainstorm ideas in collaboration with an AI tool AFTER I have used my own brain first
AI is a big no for me when
- I don’t have a quality prompt ready on a topic that will ONLY complement and NOT substitute my writing
- I haven’t done my own research or testing first
- I don’t have enough knowledge of the topic to fact-check the AI’s responses
- I am using it as a substitute for my own expertise, experience, or judgment
Commitment to Human-First Content
The bottom line is that I may use AI tools in my content creation process, but only for guidance and redirection.
I do not use AI to generate complete articles for publication under my name, replace first-hand testing or research, or fabricate personal experience.
I want to always take pride in everything I publish. Doing what I do best, namely, putting my real thoughts, expertise, and experience to paper, is something I intend to continue doing.
